Simply Exhortations are incentives which someone urge employees or workers to do tasks effectively, efficiently and by hard in a way creating new promotion schemes. For an instance “If you work harder, that will make me happy, and I will in turn do good things for you, which will make you happy.” Is and exhortation statement that a manager tells to his employees. It implies to work harder in a new motivated and creative way. It causes the employees to work in a better manner and find different actions which could potentially take to deal with a certain problem a company has.
To make incentives to actually work in your company it is important to determine which incentives suitable for your company. Incentives work properly if we only use incentives as tools for driving performance and engagement of employees. They need to be unambiguous and directly ties with measurable actions and achievement which the company aimed. Often a satisfied employee is more likely to produce better results for an expected task. For examples a company can provide Compensation incentives such as bonuses, raises, profit sharing, Reward incentives such as gifts, monetary rewards, gift certificates, Recognition incentives includes thanking employees, praising employees, announcing accomplishments at a company meeting, Appreciation incentives which includes celebrations after achieving company goals, birthdays, family events and etc.
Advantages of Exhortation
There are advantages of driving to incentives. By providing workers chances to obtain promotions their desire to stay at the company is increased. This effects the company to retain good employees while saving their annual hiring and training costs as well. As human being people like to form relationships and like to have a sense of caring, kinship with their coworkers. It helps the company to create better decisions when it is needed. As well as incentives helps to increase productivity.
Disadvantages of Exhortation
As disadvantages of incentives, sometimes incentive misalignment can be occurred when incentive programs are not properly aligned with the company mission or targeted performance. Further incentives can lead to conflicts, unless incentive programs are not fair and not clearly state intentions that anyone can reach. Meanwhile employees may think to be competitive instead of being focus on the quality of the task that they need to fulfill. Besides incentives can become a cost for the company.
